This listing is for one extremely rare antique French Palais Royal fan style wax seal set. A multi wax seal set made by Brasseux, engraver of king Charles X, dating to the 1800's. Brass fan style compartment seal with 42 brass disc matrices engraved on both sides, totaling 84 wax seal designs. (This set is missing 8 matrices to make it complete). The seals are left in "un-clean original condition", so could use a polish.
This seal was produced by Hippolyte Brasseux, engraver of King Charles X, who set up his shop at 17 Passage des Panoramas in 1826, until 1863. In 1827 he filed a patent for a multi seal comprising a hundred seal designs (50 discs) arranged in a fan. The fan had 5 arms and each arm held 10 brass discs (20 seal designs). This particular set for sale is set is missing 8 matrices to make it complete.
The antique wax seal set originates from France.
