In the tree, a Pelican in her nest, feeding her young. The pelican is a symbol of a caring self-sacrificing parent. It is said that in times of distress the pelican feed its young with its own blood. The image of the pelican "in her piety", in the act of wounding her breast in order to nourish her young with her blood, symbolizes parental love. One who will do anything for the family.
The antique seal impression used in making this pendant dates back to the early 1800's, it originates from England.
